There’s little doubt that a great big dose of resilience has been needed throughout this challenging political and economic year, so let’s raise a glass to overcoming tough times and look forward to less uncertainty and a prosperous new decade.
The doom and gloom surrounding the high street, business rates, Brexit et al have made 2019 a difficult year for commercial landlords and tenants. A sense of caution has seen demand for short lets and flexible workspace rise. Affordability and the flexibility to increase and decrease workspace as needed means there has been some buoyancy to the market. Canny operators have made the most of uncertain times with flexible offers as businesses have shunned long leases and put premises moves on hold.
We expect businesses to adapt and develop to the issues and opportunities that Brexit will bring in 2020. UK businesses and innovators will be hard at work, with an uptake in demand for, in particular, industrial workshops and warehouse storage.
Let’s see what Boris and Brexit really can do for the UK. Let’s see some support for the 5.8million small businesses, entrepreneurs, start ups and genuinely hard-working businesses in cities, towns and the countryside.
At Boxpod HQ, we broke the 20,000 property adverts early in 2019. We continue to see growth in this area from customers who have been with us since the beginning, to new customers joining. Affordable fees, self administration options and easy sign up processes have proved appealing to advertisers.
We have been spending a lot of time behind the scenes improving the customer experience. We want it to be as seamless as possible for both our clients and potential enquirers using Boxpod. As we go into 2020 we will be continuing to make the Boxpod experience as simple and carefree as possible, so watch this space. Our brokerage department has been as busy as ever with many small businesses experiencing growth and therefore looking to move into their first business premises.
