Telford is the largest town in Shropshire, located 30 miles northwest of Birmingham and just 68 miles from the Welsh border. Named after the celebrated civil engineer, Thomas Telford, the town is a ‘new town’, created by merging local villages and agricultural land in the 1960s and 70’s. Proclaiming itself as ‘the Birthplace of Industry’, the area was fundamental in the Industrial Revolution.
